Paula Sugawara

Paula graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BA with honors in French and Spanish after which she spent two years in Spain teaching Business English at the Economics Faculty of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. A British national, she has been a resident of Japan for 16 years and spent 13 years working in the finance industry. During this time she worked as a securities analyst at the Tokyo headquarters of Nomura Securities as well as the Tokyo offices of Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs and Fidelity Investments. During her career as a securities analyst she placed 7th in the Nikkei Analyst Rankings for the utility sector and 10th for the machinery sector. She also obtained both her Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) and Series 16 Supervisory Analyst qualifications.

Paula is now applying both her business and linguistic experience to the field of leadership and personal effectiveness. In addition to her work with Japan Intercultural Consulting, Paula is active coaching both individual and corporate clients in English and Japanese as well as hosting leadership and coaching workshops.
