Bruce McLin
Consultant/Executive Coach

A native of Florida, Bruce McLin holds a B.A. in Geography from Long Beach State University. After graduation, Bruce spent a year at Waseda University learning Japanese and about Japan. He returned to San Diego State University for his Masters Degree. During his time there, Bruce returned twice to Japan, both times to Yokohama National University, the second time as a Mombusho Scholarship student. He has been in Japan continuously since 1981.

After his Master's Degree, Bruce worked a year with the U.S. Army as a liaison with the Ground Self-Defense Force. In 1986 he moved to ITOCHU Corporation to help implement a training program for ITOCHU overseas staff. Later transferring to the Personnel Department, he worked on overseas evaluation systems, overseas payroll and overseas general affairs. Later he was transferred to ITOCHU Academy and became Manager of the Overseas Training Unit.

Bruce joined EDS, an American IT services company, in 1999. At EDS, Bruce became the Regional Training Manager for North Asia. While at EDS, Bruce became involved in developing talent management and succession planning programs, leadership development programs, coaching & mentoring and facilitation. He ended his career at EDS as the Learning & Development Business Partner for North Asia.

In August 2009, Bruce became independent and has been active as a consultant focused on human resources and training and development. He joined Japan International Consulting in April 2011, where he shares his expertise in global human resource development.
