Hiromi Nagashima
Facilitator - Tokyo, Japan

A native of Shanghai, Hiromi Nagashima graduated from the Foreign Language Department of East China Normal University. After working in a Japanese-Chinese joint venture company in Shanghai, she went to Japan in 1986, where she studied Japanese at a language academy and then completed a Master's degree and the Ph.D. course (all but dissertation) in Commercial Studies at Kinki University. The focus of her graduate work was on labor relations, Japan-China business relations, and interpretation. After her graduate studies she worked at a trading company in Osaka for three years. She then returned to Shanghai where she worked for Itochu's office there. In that position she performed a liaison role helping to reduce cultural friction between Japanese and Chinese both inside and outside the company. In 1995 she again moved to Japan, where she took Japanese citizenship. Her seminars draw on her actual business experience at Japanese firms' operations in China as well as her experience living and working in Japan. In addition to her work with Japan Intercultural Consulting, she is a court interpreter and writes articles on cross-cultural communication. She is a co-author of Chugoku de Seiko Suru Jinzai Management Manual (Human Resource Management Manual for Succeeding in China).
