Thomas R. Shockley
Facilitator - Tokyo, Japan

Thomas R. Shockley graduated from the University of California, Berkeley campus, with an independent major in Social-History, authoring a paper on the social-political forces of "Uchi-no-mono" and "Yoso-no-mono" which affected the early years of the Meiji government (1868 - 1873).

After graduation he went on to obtain a Master's Degree in International Administration from the International Christian University in Tokyo.

He later accepted employment with Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. (AGC) where for the next 15 years he engaged in the marketing of commercial products to affiliate manufacturing facilities in Southeast Asia. As time passed, he focused on AGC's original equipment manufacturer business in North American and Europe, dramatically expanding the company's global procurement program.

In early 2000, relying on his multi-country work experience and intercultural communication accomplishments, he established DocuMonde Inc. and filed for and received patent approval for a software solution enabling ease of completion of official documents in the language of choice. This software focuses on the cultural needs of the user providing a solution that fits his/her national needs. In recognition of his pioneering entrepreneur endeavors, Kobunsha Co., Ltd. In 2006 featured him together with several others in the publication entitled 'Mi no take Kigyo' Juku (The Cram School: Reaching for your Start-up).

Today, in addition to his work with Japan Intercultural Consulting, Thomas continues to provide a service that ensures the business traveler's visa needs are met thus enabling the traveler to focus on their business and cultural experiences.
