Yoshiko Muto

Born and raised in Japan, Yoshiko Muto holds a B.A. from Seijo University in Tokyo, and has lived in Brazil for eleven years. As an expert language teacher and trainer she has deep insight and personal experience in the field of cross-cultural communication.
After starting her career in the field of art management in Tokyo, Yoshiko began teaching English for Japanese business people and Japanese for American and European business people at language schools there in 1987.
She later moved to Brazil and studied Portuguese, and in 2000 she founded her own Japanese language school near São Paulo, called the Escola de Língua Japonesa Mogi Guaçu (Mogi Guaçu School of Japanese), in the city of Mogi Guaçu in São Paulo state. She currently serves as director of the school and also teaches Japanese language there. In 2001 she also began working as a trainer of Japanese teachers, offering teacher development seminars, and coordinating courses such as Pan American Regional Seminars and others at the Centro Brasileiro de Língua Japonesa (Brazilian Center for Japanese Language) in São Paulo, as well as in nearby states. In 2007, she published a co-written bilingual book for Japanese teachers in Brazil.
In addition, Yoshiko has lectured to Brazilian audiences about Japanese history and culture. She is fluent in Japanese, Portuguese and English.
