Andrew Bender
Senior Consultant - California, USA

Andrew Bender holds a BA in International Relations and Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA/MA with concentrations in Multinational Management and East Asian Studies from the Joseph H. Lauder Institute and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Andrew has significant experience working at Japanese firms. He began his career in the Investment Advisory Department of Japan Associated Finance Co., Ltd., which was part of the Nomura Securities Group and Japan's dominant venture capital company. Later he worked in development, production, and acquisitions of filmed entertainment for Fujisankei Communications Group in Los Angeles, and also coordinated special projects there. He also was Executive Vice President of The Motion Syndicate, Inc., responsible for the U.S. operations of this Japanese-owned animation and computer graphics house.

Most recently, Andrew has been working as a freelance consultant in multicultural management, strategic planning, and special projects. He is also active as a freelance editor and writer, contributing to publications including The Los Angeles Times, Fortune, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Travel and Leisure, Wingspan (All Nippon Airways' in-flight magazine), Men's Journal, and the Lonely Planet travel guides (including the guide to Japan).

Andrew is fluent in Japanese, and also speaks conversational French.
