Elise Glickman-Rao
Consultant - Illinois, USA
Elise holds a BA in Political Science from Duke University and a BFA from the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and
lived in China for 10 years, she also is proficient in Japanese and lived in
Japan for three years.
While living in China, Elise was active in the broadcast field. Her activities
included:
Directing, co-hosting and researching a series of cross-cultural segments for a
popular Chinese television talk show.
Researching, writing and directing an award-winning television documentary
about her life in China.
Writing and directing an award-winning, television documentary about a German
photographer in China.
Writing, co-hosting and co-producing a popular weekly, half-hour radio call-in
show.
Elise also served as Foreign Liaison for Fuzhou University, where her
responsibilities included writing news releases and ensuring smooth
communication between foreign dignitaries and university officials. These
varied business activities, as well as her integration into the daily social
life of her community, have given her deep insights into Chinese culture and
business practices.
Since her return to Chicago in 2001, Elise has been active as a cross-cultural
consultant, particularly for American businesspeople about to relocate to
China.
