Makiko Masuda
Senior Consultant - Michigan, USA

A native of Japan, Makiko has lived in the United States for over 20 years. She holds B.A. in English Literature/Education from Tokyo Women's Christian University and a M.A. in Education from New York University. She also holds a Master Business Administration (MBA) from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where she concentrated in Marketing, Finance, and Organizational Behavior.

Makiko's early career experience was in the research area, first at JMR Tokyo where she was involved in new product marketing, and at the Bank of Tokyo where she analyzed international economic, financial and political issues. Later, at the law firm O'Melveny & Myers, she was an International Practice Specialist, where she managed client liaison for over 100 major Japanese corporations. Most recently, Makiko was Investment Management Associate and Director of Japanese Marketing at LaSalle Partners Limited, a major real estate development and management firm.

Through this varied experience, Makiko has gained an in-depth understanding of differences in business culture. In her work at Japan Intercultural Consulting, Makiko works primarily with clients in the automotive industry, conducting cross-cultural training and teambuilding sessions for Americans and Japanese. Her in-depth explanations and excellent facilitation skills make for dynamic sessions.
