Mary Sullivan ("Sully") Taylor

Mary Sullivan (“Sully”) Taylor is Professor of International Management in the
School of Business Administration at Portland State University. She has the
rare combination of significant knowledge of both Japanese and Latin American
business cultures. She has expertise in Japanese management and global human
resource management in Japanese multinationals, and has studied Japanese
companies' operations in Mexico.
Fluent in Spanish, Professor Taylor lived in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, from
the age of 10 to 18. She received a Fulbright Fellowship to study in Japan, and
also has served as a Visiting Professor at Waseda University. Professor Taylor
is the author of numerous publications, including Western Women Working in
Japan: Breaking Corporate Barriers. Professor Taylor holds a B.A. in
Latin-American History and English Literature from Southern Methodist
University, an M.A.T. in English and Spanish as Second Languages from the
School for International Training, an M.A. in Spanish Literature from
Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management &
International Business from the University of Washington.
