Consultant - Kentucky, USA
Patricia has deep experience helping Japanese and Americans work together more effectively. As Group
Lead for Japanese Translation and Cultural Advisement at Panasonic Mobile Communications Development, she
delivered cross-cultural training, focused training to Japanese and American engineers collaborating on
global engineering design products, and advised senior American management on successful strategies for
improving communication with Japan. She also managed an in-house Japanese/English translation team,
translated business and technical documents, and interpreted for engineering and executive-level meetings.
This six year experience gave her deep insight into the challenges faced by Japanese and Americans working
together in technical settings.
Patricia’s work experience also includes working as a trainer at Sony Corporation in Tokyo and New York, and
extensive work as a freelance translator.
Prior to her business career, Patricia taught Japanese language, literature, and culture courses at Oglethorpe
University and Morehouse College.
Patricia holds a Ph.D. in Japanese Theater from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and an M.A. in Japanese
Literature from the University of Toronto. For four years she was a Visiting Scholar at Ritsumeikan University
in Kyoto. She is fluent in spoken and written Japanese.
